Yield To Ped Upgrade

These signs recently appeared along Monroe Street at Gaines and Madison, along with countdown signals for pedestrians. I don't know if this sign is in the MUTCD, if it carries the full force of law that a full-blown Yield sign does. I hope so. That would mean that anyone who hits a pedestrian in a crosswalk is prima facea failing to yield right of way. Not that we can count on any drivers or even police to understand, much less obey/enforce this law.

Kudos to the State DOT for putting these in. It certainly should make drivers more aware of pedestrians.
